Training Situational Awareness, Virgis 48

How to make yourself more situationally aware and train others to do the same.

[00:00:04] Welcome back to the Changing Earth Podcast with author Sarah F. Hathaway and co-host

[00:00:15] Chen Gibson, blending survival fiction and fact to bring you entertaining education that

[00:00:22] will help you dream, survive and thrive. And now here's your hosts Sarah F. Hathaway

[00:00:29] and Chen Gibson.

[00:00:33] Chapter 48 As evening fell, the feds arrived. Cole

[00:00:37] was more than happy to hand the operation over to them. It gave him a moment to collect

[00:00:43] his thoughts, check his gear and clean his rifle. The battle in Oregon had left it soiled

[00:00:50] and he wanted to check the trigger assembly. Disassembling the weapon, he rubbed the

[00:00:56] metal clean with solvent and carefully oiled all the parts. Satisfied with the condition

[00:01:03] he began reassembling it. Noticing a shadow approaching the tent, he looked up.

[00:01:09] Good evening Major, Johnny greeted him. Private McClintock, you have the night off.

[00:01:15] What brings you by? Cole wondered what was on the young man's mind.

[00:01:19] I wanted to see if you wanted to get some food and catch up. I acted like an ass

[00:01:23] when I first got to Reno and I'm sorry. That's big of you to say Johnny. Let's

[00:01:29] go grab some chow, Cole agreed as he finished reassembling his weapon.

[00:01:33] Leaving with Johnny they went towards the large chow tent the feds had set up. Just

[00:01:40] have a seat anywhere fellas, a woman greeted them as they entered.

[00:01:43] Thank you ma'am, Cole told her. He scanned the interior.

[00:01:48] There's a table towards the back where you can watch the door, Johnny commented.

[00:01:52] Cole smirked a little, looking at Johnny curiously. You remember?

[00:01:57] Yeah, I do. Always sit in the back so you can see the door and the whole room,

[00:02:03] he recited to Cole as they went to the table. As Cole sat down Johnny stood for a

[00:02:09] moment declaring, I love you Virgis. It broke my heart when you left. He sat down.

[00:02:15] Surprised he had made such an impact on the young man Cole stammered for a minute.

[00:02:20] I'm sorry Johnny, I had my reasons. The woman from the door approached asking,

[00:02:26] Would you like a beer major? Yes, for the private as well, Cole told her. Coming up,

[00:02:32] she said, leaving to get the drinks. What reasons, Johnny wondered. Cole sighed

[00:02:38] deeply explaining, when I was fighting overseas I was helping others survive

[00:02:43] tyrannical dictators. I had to turn against my fellow countrymen when all

[00:02:48] this went down. My government started to become that authoritarian

[00:02:52] dictatorship. I was confused, I had to leave. But you came back? I did, Cole

[00:02:59] answered simply. Why, Johnny prodded. In my town disaster after disaster kept

[00:03:06] happening. Then a group of refugees came. We helped them but they still stole

[00:03:12] from us. The town was left without resources. Everyone became refugees and

[00:03:18] were put in the camp in Vegas. The state should have been resupplied but the

[00:03:23] feds deemed the area west of the Rockies useless. They cut the resources.

[00:03:27] My dad was pissed. You sound like someone else I know, Cole said dreamily.

[00:03:33] That woman? Cassidy? Johnny wondered. Cole looked offended. What do you know

[00:03:39] about it? Chappie told me she comes to Dolores's. She looked important

[00:03:44] to those militia men, Johnny commented. Quietly Cole replied. Her father leads

[00:03:50] them. How do you know that? Because I do, Cole told him, scanning the room.

[00:03:55] They had come late in the night and the emptiness of the place was

[00:04:00] comforting. Because you're working with them, Johnny asked quietly. Private

[00:04:05] Jessup told me about the fighters that should have gone to Vegas. What did

[00:04:09] he say? He said you're an excellent leader and he would trust you with

[00:04:13] his life. He didn't tell anyone else did he? Cole remembered Jessup asking

[00:04:17] questions about some of their activities. No, he doesn't like doing

[00:04:22] collections either. His family is in the Minneapolis camp, Johnny explained.

[00:04:27] Service for freedom, Cole suggested as the waitress approached. Sorry about

[00:04:33] the wait sir. Here are your beers. Do you want chicken or a burger?

[00:04:37] Burger, Cole replied. Sounds good to me, Johnny agreed. I'll go grab them

[00:04:42] sir. The woman assured them before she left. How do they get beef out here,

[00:04:46] Johnny wondered. It's more like mystery meat, but it's usually good, Cole

[00:04:51] told him. Oh, he paused for a moment. Cole waited patiently for the

[00:04:57] young man to sort out his thoughts. So he began clumsily. Cassidy is

[00:05:03] pretty hot. She is, but she's wild, Cole warned. Even better, Johnny

[00:05:09] commented dreamily. She's old enough to be your mom, Cole said, dismissing

[00:05:14] him. Experienced, he commented, rubbing his hands together. Still works

[00:05:20] for me. She's mine, Cole stated flatly. Johnny laughed at him,

[00:05:25] nodding his head. That's what I thought, Johnny admitted. Johnny,

[00:05:30] you can't tell this to anyone, Cole told him. Johnny's expression turned

[00:05:34] solemn. Virgis, my dad, he well, it was rough after you left. He

[00:05:42] started questioning his motives as well. You know, our relationship

[00:05:47] hasn't been the best since mom died. And he wasn't there. Anyway,

[00:05:52] he's coordinating with the southern militias. Cole leaned in closer

[00:05:57] to him wondering quietly. How do you know? I heard him talking

[00:06:01] with a man. Dixon was his name. He agreed with you and said the

[00:06:06] Merc should be a check to the federal power, a voice for the

[00:06:10] people. Why didn't he tell me Cole asked shocked by the news.

[00:06:15] He knew you had to find your own path. He didn't want you putting

[00:06:19] your conscience on the line out of loyalty to him. The women

[00:06:23] approached with two plates of food. Here you go, fellas. Two

[00:06:26] burgers with Jerusalem artichoke fries. Johnny looked at her

[00:06:31] curiously. Are they good? They're unique. Let me know if you need

[00:06:35] anything, sir, she said before leaving them. What does that

[00:06:39] mean? Johnny asked. Try them and find out cold declared,

[00:06:43] picking up one of the fries and dipping it in ketchup. Johnny

[00:06:47] did the same. Chewing the fry around in his mouth. He

[00:06:50] commented. Not bad, but not great either. Unique. Yep. Go

[00:06:56] replied, taking a bite from his burger. Anyway, that's why

[00:07:01] pops is spending so much time in the Capitol. He's keeping

[00:07:04] his eyes on the federal operation. Johnny told him

[00:07:07] swallowing the bike Cole put his burger down and looked at

[00:07:10] Johnny sternly. Johnny, do me a favor. What's that Johnny

[00:07:16] wondered? Don't call him pops Cole commented. Chuckling

[00:07:20] at Cole, Johnny assured him. I'm just kidding around

[00:07:23] Virgis. From now on, I won't call him pops. He paused eating

[00:07:28] some of the food on his plate. A tiny bit of mayonnaise stuck

[00:07:32] to his face as he looked up and asked, What are we going

[00:07:35] to do? Cole threw a napkin at him declaring we are not

[00:07:40] going to do anything. You will follow my lead and keep

[00:07:43] your head down so I can bring you back to your father

[00:07:46] safely. What are you going to do? Johnny wondered. We

[00:07:51] need someone with a story that will captivate the people. We

[00:07:55] need them to see how far things have gone and why this

[00:07:58] needs to end. I think I may have found one time will tell

[00:08:03] but until then this stays between you and me. I

[00:08:07] understand he agreed shoving the rest of the burger into

[00:08:10] his mouth. Not bad.

[00:09:13] Hello and welcome back to the changing earth podcast. This

[00:09:17] is episode number 448 season 15 episode 48. Hey, Tim,

[00:09:24] what's up?

[00:09:26] What's up y'all?

[00:09:27] Yeah, Tim came sliding in road tripping.

[00:09:32] Orange Dodge Charger going full tilt.

[00:09:34] Yeah, good sliding like Boduk.

[00:09:38] A little bit of news before we start it up. Second week, June

[00:09:49] season four is beginning. So head on over to YouTube. Check

[00:09:56] out the new video. It's really cool. Meet TJ Swenson video.

[00:10:03] So you know, I got to tell you that video is much darker,

[00:10:09] right? Got like as many clicks in one night as I have on like

[00:10:14] one of Erica's videos. I was like, what? Come on, TJ.

[00:10:21] Yeah. Second week of June, June 9th. We're not going to

[00:10:27] have a show. It'll be we'll do a rerun show or something

[00:10:30] like that. But we'll not have a live show that night. I'm going

[00:10:34] to be getting in from doing some little fishing vacay. And

[00:10:41] there's actually going on a boat. I'm going on a boat in

[00:10:44] the ocean. Well, in the Gulf, but saltwater which is and

[00:10:49] I'm staying on an island. So yeah, I'm stepping outside

[00:10:55] my comfort zone.

[00:10:57] Good for you.

[00:10:57] Yeah, I just know that's when like the pole shift is gonna

[00:11:01] happen. And I'll just be like, whoo, right in the way, maybe

[00:11:05] yeah.

[00:11:06] Is there a three hour tour?

[00:11:10] It's three hours out to go fishing for five hours to come

[00:11:15] back for three hours. So it kind of is a three hour tour.

[00:11:18] Like

[00:11:21] yeah,

[00:11:22] well, good. And I said hi.

[00:11:27] And then we got prep camp coming up in September is kind of

[00:11:29] the halfway mark. So right now we're past the halfway mark.

[00:11:36] So if you guys don't have your tickets yet, get them. Get

[00:11:40] them. We'd like to see you there. It's always a good time

[00:11:43] and never disappoints. Never. I mean, you're there. I'm

[00:11:48] there. What could go wrong?

[00:11:50] Come heck or hot water.

[00:11:52] That's right. That's right. So that prep camp. So second week

[00:11:56] of June, we got season four beginning special treat for my

[00:12:01] members who are subscribers, you guys will get to have the

[00:12:05] first episode of season four before I leave on vacation.

[00:12:11] So that's going to happen next week or this coming week.

[00:12:14] I'll have that up for you guys. So you get the special

[00:12:17] two week sneak peek on the first episode of season four.

[00:12:22] Then, like I said, June 9th, no live show. And then we got

[00:12:25] proper camp coming up.

[00:12:27] All right. So in Verges, this is classic. This is classic

[00:12:32] situational awareness week. They walk into the restaurant.

[00:12:38] What does Johnny say? There's a table in the back for

[00:12:40] just

[00:12:44] table for two.

[00:12:45] You remember? Oh, yeah. You like to sit in the back so

[00:12:48] you can watch the whole restaurant.

[00:12:51] If you're not in the habit of doing that by this point, get

[00:12:54] in the habit of doing that. Once you are in the habit of

[00:12:58] really being aware of what's going on around you, you will

[00:13:00] not want to sit anywhere else and it'll drive you

[00:13:02] absolutely bonkers when you have to.

[00:13:05] You ever like run like you have a bunch of people and

[00:13:08] they all want that one seat with their back against the

[00:13:10] wall looking.

[00:13:11] Yes.

[00:13:15] Yeah, because I've taught my boys now, right?

[00:13:18] So yeah, Fletcher always wants to sit the same way.

[00:13:22] And a couple there and they get their first.

[00:13:28] Yeah, I had that happen with like a work party.

[00:13:32] Everybody was there before me. I had to sit with my

[00:13:34] back to like an aisle of like people walking up and

[00:13:40] down this like row in between the tables like right

[00:13:43] behind. I was just my boss was like, Are you OK?

[00:13:46] I'm like, not really. Actually, at this moment, I

[00:13:50] cannot see. I know there's a ton of activity going on

[00:13:52] behind me and I do not like that.

[00:13:55] Right.

[00:13:57] So other big happenings that happen, you know,

[00:14:00] this is basically when Johnny has, you know, the

[00:14:02] heart to heart with Virgis and Virgis tells him

[00:14:06] about Cassidy. Johnny tells him about that his

[00:14:09] dad's hooked up with the militias.

[00:14:12] So interesting stuff in this conversation, a really

[00:14:17] big turning point for these two when they kind of,

[00:14:21] you know, solidify that they're back together.

[00:14:25] The crew.

[00:14:27] The crew, the crew.

[00:14:29] So we have done a ton of episodes on situational

[00:14:33] awareness and you're like, Sarah, what more can

[00:14:35] we say? You can really never say enough because

[00:14:39] situational awareness is the most important part

[00:14:46] of survival.

[00:14:49] It is the most important part.

[00:14:50] It is the most important part of surviving any

[00:14:53] self-defense situation.

[00:14:55] If you were just so focused on that one

[00:14:58] person that walked up to you that you never saw

[00:15:00] that there was five more coming around you,

[00:15:02] you're in big trouble.

[00:15:04] You know, so you just can't you can't say

[00:15:07] enough. You can't sharpen your skills enough.

[00:15:10] We're all in those moments when we get in like

[00:15:12] our own head and we're like, whoa, how did I

[00:15:15] ever drive this far?

[00:15:17] Or, you know, how did all of these people come

[00:15:20] around me and I didn't realize what was going

[00:15:23] on? It's one of the most important things.

[00:15:25] And it's just something that can slip in

[00:15:27] everybody just when you get in your own head

[00:15:29] with your own thoughts or anything like that.

[00:15:31] So you really can't say enough about it.

[00:15:35] I found a killer article.

[00:15:38] I'm going to throw it up in the chat for

[00:15:40] everybody who's following along in the chat.

[00:15:43] I would highly suggest going and reading that

[00:15:45] article. We're going to go over it a little

[00:15:47] bit today, but because they have some great

[00:15:51] exercises that I had never seen before for

[00:15:55] sharpening those situational awareness

[00:15:56] skills. So that's what we're going to focus

[00:15:58] on really.

[00:15:59] You know, if you're in a typical self-defense

[00:16:02] situation, it's going to really take you like

[00:16:03] two to five seconds to realize like, oh my

[00:16:06] goodness, I'm in danger.

[00:16:09] And your perpetrator is absolutely relying on

[00:16:13] that factor that it takes you that time to

[00:16:16] realize it, because in that time, that's

[00:16:18] when they gain the upper hand over you.

[00:16:20] So we don't want to have that happen.

[00:16:24] That would be scary.

[00:16:30] Right.

[00:16:34] Oodaloo is always important.

[00:16:36] We got to remember Oodaloo always.

[00:16:37] So Oodaloo is observe, orient, decide, act.

[00:16:41] Observe, orient, decide, act.

[00:16:44] Ooda.

[00:16:44] While we're speaking of Ooda, remember James

[00:16:47] has his ebook on sale this weekend.

[00:16:51] I got the paperback.

[00:16:54] I mean, the paperback's like 11 bucks.

[00:16:57] I know.

[00:16:57] Well, you should have both and then you go

[00:17:00] on and give a good review.

[00:17:02] Yeah, that's true.

[00:17:03] But Ooda is the main character.

[00:17:05] Yep, Ooda.

[00:17:06] No, my kids were like, wow.

[00:17:10] A little creepy.

[00:17:13] But they liked it overall.

[00:17:14] They really liked it.

[00:17:15] So yeah, it's a good book.

[00:17:18] Yeah.

[00:17:18] So go check that out.

[00:17:20] I can't remember the exact name of it.

[00:17:22] I'm so bad.

[00:17:23] Is it in the world of world?

[00:17:25] The right.

[00:17:26] Yep.

[00:17:27] Yep.

[00:17:28] Thank you, sir.

[00:17:28] Appreciate that.

[00:17:29] I just remember Ooda.

[00:17:32] I know when you said it, now all I think

[00:17:34] about is this little character.

[00:17:36] Right?

[00:17:36] Yeah.

[00:17:37] Observe, orient, decide, act, observe,

[00:17:40] orient, decide, act.

[00:17:41] So that's pretty self-explanatory.

[00:17:44] It keeps you from paralysis, right?

[00:17:46] Yes, exactly.

[00:17:48] Because you're constantly going back through

[00:17:50] that cycle.

[00:17:51] Mm hmm.

[00:17:52] Yep.

[00:17:53] And nothing, you know, observing and

[00:17:55] orienting are really important pieces of

[00:17:58] that.

[00:17:59] Like don't just focus on the decide act part.

[00:18:02] Um, because any battle.

[00:18:05] Like you were saying, you see just one person

[00:18:08] and there could be three or four.

[00:18:10] Right.

[00:18:10] Or a crowd.

[00:18:11] Bad guys.

[00:18:12] Exactly.

[00:18:12] Bad people.

[00:18:13] Yeah.

[00:18:14] And if you're just focused in, I mean,

[00:18:15] it doesn't, or like somebody's approaching

[00:18:18] your car, maybe there's somebody else too.

[00:18:21] Yep.

[00:18:23] So observing and orientating is the best

[00:18:27] idea because you need to get yourself in

[00:18:28] a position where you are at the back of

[00:18:30] that restaurant.

[00:18:31] You can see everything that's going on

[00:18:33] around you, especially in a self-defense

[00:18:36] situation.

[00:18:38] It's one of the reasons why I'm not

[00:18:40] like overly as crazy about just training

[00:18:43] jujitsu because you go to the ground

[00:18:46] with somebody, there could be three other

[00:18:48] people standing above you and you're

[00:18:49] done.

[00:18:52] Okay.

[00:18:53] So one of the other things that I

[00:18:54] picked out of this article that I really

[00:18:56] liked was, um, developing that baseline.

[00:18:59] It seems really basic, uh, that you

[00:19:02] need to develop a baseline, but I've

[00:19:04] never like just really thought about

[00:19:06] it.

[00:19:06] Right?

[00:19:07] Like what is normal here?

[00:19:10] Right.

[00:19:10] Yeah.

[00:19:11] Right.

[00:19:12] It's just kind of assumed, but I've

[00:19:15] never really focused on the details

[00:19:17] of what's normal, like noise level,

[00:19:18] smells, lighting, those kinds of

[00:19:21] things.

[00:19:21] You know, what's the norm?

[00:19:22] Yeah, I saw that list.

[00:19:24] Right?

[00:19:24] Yeah.

[00:19:25] I really liked that as well.

[00:19:27] Um, how we're moving and how they're

[00:19:30] acting, just the overall energy of the

[00:19:33] place.

[00:19:34] Like did that energy just change?

[00:19:37] There could be a problem.

[00:19:41] Also the, um, what warrants a second

[00:19:44] look.

[00:19:45] So uncomfortable behavior was like

[00:19:47] number one.

[00:19:47] If somebody is like acting

[00:19:49] uncomfortable, they are

[00:19:51] uncomfortable about something.

[00:19:54] There's some reason why, cause

[00:19:56] that's not our natural state to be

[00:19:57] in well for most people.

[00:20:00] Some people, you know, but most

[00:20:02] people you're not like being

[00:20:05] uncomfortable is not your natural

[00:20:06] state.

[00:20:06] So if that's happening, that

[00:20:08] warrants a second look, um,

[00:20:10] unusual action, observing their

[00:20:12] hands, right?

[00:20:14] Any kind of a nefarious activity

[00:20:16] or if they have a weapon or

[00:20:17] something like that, they're

[00:20:18] going to be reaching like to

[00:20:20] guard over that object, you

[00:20:22] know, pretty constantly.

[00:20:24] Um, I wear my knife at my

[00:20:26] side and I play with it a lot.

[00:20:29] Right?

[00:20:31] I know, I know.

[00:20:33] And cause it clicks click in

[00:20:34] and out of the, it's like a pen,

[00:20:36] right?

[00:20:36] Clicky, clicky, clicky, clicky.

[00:20:38] It's got a hard,

[00:20:40] yeah, the hard.

[00:20:43] It's a harder,

[00:20:45] yeah.

[00:20:45] Fixed blade with a hard

[00:20:46] sheet.

[00:20:46] Right.

[00:20:47] Yeah.

[00:20:47] Fixed blade with the hard

[00:20:48] sheet.

[00:20:49] And, uh, I was walking through

[00:20:51] prepper camp one time.

[00:20:53] Keep popping it open and close.

[00:20:54] Yeah, exactly.

[00:20:56] Click, click, click, click, click.

[00:20:57] Oh, yeah.

[00:20:59] So I'm walking through prepper

[00:21:00] camp and natives like hand off

[00:21:02] the weapon, ma'am.

[00:21:03] I'm like, no, I don't know.

[00:21:07] He was looking right.

[00:21:09] He knew exactly right where my

[00:21:10] hands were.

[00:21:12] And so, um, I tend to do that

[00:21:15] as well because when I'm

[00:21:16] wearing my knife in a crowd, I

[00:21:17] don't want somebody to be able

[00:21:18] to just walk up and take it

[00:21:19] from me.

[00:21:20] I know what you're, I, that's

[00:21:22] like another thing would like

[00:21:23] concealed, uh, a firearm.

[00:21:27] You're especially a new carrier

[00:21:30] is always like adjusting, right?

[00:21:32] Oh, huh.

[00:21:32] And you're away.

[00:21:34] Right.

[00:21:35] That's like, I've got

[00:21:36] something.

[00:21:37] I've got something.

[00:21:38] Yeah.

[00:21:39] Um, aggressive erratic behavior,

[00:21:42] of course, but then like you

[00:21:43] said, bulges in the clothing,

[00:21:46] you know, out here in Texas,

[00:21:49] like I seen a dude riding on

[00:21:50] a motorcycle and his shirt was

[00:21:51] blowing his pistols just like

[00:21:53] right there tucked in the back

[00:21:54] of his pants.

[00:21:56] Yup.

[00:21:56] I'm like, amen.

[00:21:58] God bless Texas.

[00:22:01] So how do we improve?

[00:22:04] Like I'm always looking for

[00:22:05] ways to improve situational

[00:22:06] awareness.

[00:22:08] I snuck up on Brock the other

[00:22:10] day.

[00:22:10] I was like standing behind

[00:22:11] him for like three minutes

[00:22:13] before I scared the crud out

[00:22:14] of him.

[00:22:16] And he's like, dude, I'm

[00:22:17] slacking.

[00:22:18] I'm like, yeah, you are,

[00:22:21] you know, just cause you're in

[00:22:23] your own house doesn't mean

[00:22:25] you should be comfortable.

[00:22:26] Gosh.

[00:22:27] Silly guy.

[00:22:32] So, um, lots of things like

[00:22:34] when we're driving around,

[00:22:35] we tend to like pick a color

[00:22:36] car.

[00:22:37] Then we're always looking for

[00:22:38] those cars that will

[00:22:39] definitely stop you from ever

[00:22:40] getting someplace and going,

[00:22:42] how did I get here?

[00:22:43] Right.

[00:22:45] That's the worst.

[00:22:46] I'm so mad at myself whenever

[00:22:47] that happens.

[00:22:49] Oh, so have you ever played

[00:22:51] the game?

[00:22:52] They call it Kim's Kim's game.

[00:22:54] Kim's.

[00:22:56] Come on.

[00:22:56] Kim's exercise or something

[00:22:58] like that in the military.

[00:23:00] And it's where you have like

[00:23:01] 10 to 15 items that you look

[00:23:03] at it for a minute and then

[00:23:04] they take it away or cover

[00:23:05] it up.

[00:23:06] And then you have to remember

[00:23:07] what was there.

[00:23:08] It's like the car was it.

[00:23:09] There's that card game like

[00:23:11] that too, right?

[00:23:12] Yeah.

[00:23:13] I played a ton of memory

[00:23:14] when I was kid.

[00:23:15] I love that.

[00:23:18] Yeah.

[00:23:19] Oh yeah.

[00:23:20] Garden girl just was chatting

[00:23:21] up on the chat that the

[00:23:22] tornado touched down just a

[00:23:24] few miles from the in-laws

[00:23:25] Texas got.

[00:23:27] Destroyed.

[00:23:28] It got really hit last night.

[00:23:30] Well, we'll talk about that

[00:23:30] later, but yeah.

[00:23:33] So anyway, this is an easy

[00:23:35] one.

[00:23:36] 10 to 15 items play with the

[00:23:39] kids.

[00:23:39] The kids love these kind of

[00:23:40] games like memory.

[00:23:42] Yeah.

[00:23:44] And then you know, you

[00:23:45] and your spouse can

[00:23:46] practice these things, make

[00:23:47] sure it's random items you

[00:23:49] get.

[00:23:49] You have to do random items.

[00:23:52] I like this one too.

[00:23:53] I witness description.

[00:23:55] So this could be fun at like

[00:23:57] a party type scenario or even

[00:24:00] even at prepper camp.

[00:24:01] You know, we could take up

[00:24:02] around a picture of like a

[00:24:03] random person and just show

[00:24:05] it to everybody.

[00:24:06] I'm like, this is the

[00:24:07] subject and then like come

[00:24:08] back later and be like,

[00:24:09] write down what that person

[00:24:10] look like.

[00:24:12] And yeah, let it look at it

[00:24:13] for a fixed amount of time.

[00:24:15] Yeah.

[00:24:16] Get 15 seconds or 30

[00:24:18] seconds and then.

[00:24:19] Right.

[00:24:20] But then they can't write

[00:24:21] it down till later.

[00:24:23] See, I'd be like cheating.

[00:24:25] I'd be like, as soon as

[00:24:27] you walk away, I'd start

[00:24:28] writing it down.

[00:24:29] You know, but now

[00:24:32] you got to wait till later.

[00:24:34] If you have a pad and a

[00:24:36] writing utensil with you.

[00:24:38] I typically do.

[00:24:40] You know, right.

[00:24:41] Are you right?

[00:24:42] I'm a writer.

[00:24:43] I write.

[00:24:44] I have lots of pens.

[00:24:47] Not everybody does so.

[00:24:48] It's amazing.

[00:24:49] Well, don't have a writing

[00:24:51] implement.

[00:24:52] Oh, but everybody's got

[00:24:53] their cell phone and they

[00:24:54] have the notepad in there.

[00:24:56] I know, but it's not the same.

[00:24:58] No, it's not.

[00:24:58] Nobody uses it either.

[00:25:00] Like it's cumbersome.

[00:25:02] So.

[00:25:04] I'm a stylist.

[00:25:05] I don't know.

[00:25:06] They didn't really take off

[00:25:07] very well.

[00:25:09] I prefer I actually like

[00:25:11] start like I bought a tablet

[00:25:12] that has a stylist because

[00:25:13] I just like writing instead

[00:25:16] of using my thumb and my

[00:25:21] first finger is thumbs.

[00:25:25] Yeah, I've been doing so much

[00:25:27] audio building.

[00:25:28] I have like a twitch in my arm

[00:25:30] right now.

[00:25:32] I was like, do it.

[00:25:34] Doing my mouse work the other

[00:25:35] night from all the fine stuff

[00:25:36] that I do.

[00:25:37] Right.

[00:25:37] It's like twitch twitch.

[00:25:38] I'm like, no, no, I don't

[00:25:39] want it over there.

[00:25:41] So that is that she did

[00:25:43] down at the dojo.

[00:25:44] We did my mouse work.

[00:25:46] Yeah, yeah.

[00:25:48] That definitely happens at the

[00:25:49] gym.

[00:25:52] No, but I have gotten my

[00:25:54] my butt back into class, so

[00:25:56] I am training with all them

[00:25:57] 20 year olds again.

[00:25:58] Feeling pretty good.

[00:26:02] Expand your peripheral vision.

[00:26:05] This is great.

[00:26:05] I exercises are always awesome.

[00:26:08] Literally you can like do

[00:26:10] eye exercises for your eyes

[00:26:12] like they're in a little gym

[00:26:13] and it helps you keep your

[00:26:15] vision better, longer, keeps

[00:26:16] your eyes stronger.

[00:26:18] Glasses are great.

[00:26:19] I wear them every day, but

[00:26:21] they also help weaken your

[00:26:22] eyes more.

[00:26:23] So anything you can do to

[00:26:24] help strengthen your eye

[00:26:26] muscles is really good.

[00:26:27] And if it can be part of

[00:26:29] situational awareness, boom.

[00:26:31] So what he was saying to do

[00:26:34] is develop a habit of

[00:26:36] scanning everything.

[00:26:37] I mean, whenever we're

[00:26:38] outside of a vehicle, first

[00:26:39] thing I'm going to tell my

[00:26:40] kids is head on a swivel.

[00:26:43] Yep.

[00:26:43] Put your head on a swivel,

[00:26:44] put your head on a swivel.

[00:26:45] So this is actually scanning

[00:26:47] your environment without moving

[00:26:49] your head and you do the

[00:26:52] area directly in front of

[00:26:53] you first and then you keep

[00:26:55] going, looking further and

[00:26:57] further and further out.

[00:27:00] And so once you get good at

[00:27:02] it, then you try to describe

[00:27:04] things that are in your

[00:27:05] peripheral vision without

[00:27:06] turning your head to look at

[00:27:07] them.

[00:27:10] Are you doing it right now?

[00:27:11] You're doing it right now,

[00:27:12] aren't you?

[00:27:13] No, I'm swiveling.

[00:27:15] I got, I got aviator glasses

[00:27:17] on.

[00:27:18] Oh, you're looking cool.

[00:27:20] You're maverick up in there.

[00:27:22] Like, yeah, what's up?

[00:27:25] So that's a good one.

[00:27:27] And it's good for your eyes

[00:27:28] and it's good for your

[00:27:28] situational awareness.

[00:27:29] So that's something I'll

[00:27:30] definitely do when you see me

[00:27:32] looking all bug eyed and

[00:27:34] weird, you'll know why.

[00:27:39] The observation scavenger hunt.

[00:27:41] So this was kind of cool.

[00:27:43] Jordan the other day was

[00:27:44] talking on our host group.

[00:27:46] You know, I got my kids

[00:27:47] coming out for a trip.

[00:27:49] What what's like a cheap

[00:27:52] way to have fun?

[00:27:53] Right.

[00:27:54] And I used to always take my kids

[00:27:56] to the museums and like the

[00:27:58] little local zoo zoo that's

[00:28:00] cheaper and stuff like that.

[00:28:02] Just, you know, take them to

[00:28:03] the to the nature preserve

[00:28:06] and things like that, just

[00:28:07] because it's an inexpensive way

[00:28:09] to have fun and.

[00:28:11] Right.

[00:28:11] Enjoy Trump.

[00:28:12] Enjoy each other's company.

[00:28:14] So what you can do is if

[00:28:17] you've been there, especially,

[00:28:19] you know, you can come up with

[00:28:20] a list of items.

[00:28:22] And so when they come in, you

[00:28:25] can have them, you know,

[00:28:27] look at the list, find the

[00:28:29] items.

[00:28:30] And then when you're all done,

[00:28:32] they have to go and write out

[00:28:33] as many of the items as they

[00:28:35] can remember from the list.

[00:28:38] So again, it's like a memory

[00:28:40] exercise, but I thought it would

[00:28:43] be fun.

[00:28:43] Like that'd be cool to do with

[00:28:44] the kids in a museum.

[00:28:48] Same thing with the exit

[00:28:50] interview.

[00:28:51] So if you leave some place, you

[00:28:53] can do this with your spouse,

[00:28:54] your kids or whatever.

[00:28:55] Quiz each other.

[00:28:56] How many employees did you see?

[00:28:59] My characters actually do this a

[00:29:00] lot in the books.

[00:29:02] You know, how many guards do

[00:29:03] you see?

[00:29:05] Erica's doing it with the

[00:29:06] kids all the time.

[00:29:07] Go figure.

[00:29:08] Right.

[00:29:10] So how many employees did you

[00:29:11] see?

[00:29:12] What did the people at the

[00:29:14] table next to you eat?

[00:29:18] Like typically I can't answer

[00:29:20] that question.

[00:29:22] So I had to ding myself on

[00:29:24] that one.

[00:29:28] Oh, did I lose you, Chant?

[00:29:30] Did not.

[00:29:31] OK.

[00:29:32] Just making me hungry.

[00:29:33] Talking about watching people

[00:29:35] eat.

[00:29:36] Oh yeah, it's dinner time.

[00:29:38] You haven't got your dinner

[00:29:38] yet.

[00:29:40] How many exits?

[00:29:41] That should be something that's

[00:29:42] not just part of the game.

[00:29:43] You should be doing that all

[00:29:44] the time.

[00:29:45] Yeah.

[00:29:46] Where are the exits?

[00:29:48] You know, that's that's got

[00:29:49] to be second nature for you.

[00:29:52] What kind of decorations were

[00:29:53] there?

[00:29:54] How many tables were there?

[00:29:56] So those.

[00:29:57] Did you see that?

[00:29:58] I sent you.

[00:30:00] Yes, I did watch talking

[00:30:03] what this one guy did with his

[00:30:04] kids.

[00:30:05] What direction when you get

[00:30:08] out of the emergency exit to

[00:30:10] get back to your car?

[00:30:11] That's a good one for the

[00:30:12] kids to see if they're paying

[00:30:13] attention to like when they

[00:30:15] get turned around in a

[00:30:16] building.

[00:30:16] The orientation actually.

[00:30:18] Yeah, I thought that was a

[00:30:20] good.

[00:30:20] Yeah, we go out this way.

[00:30:22] Where's our car?

[00:30:23] Right.

[00:30:24] Right.

[00:30:25] That is a good idea.

[00:30:27] That guy was cool to you.

[00:30:28] I liked him.

[00:30:29] I was like, I do that same

[00:30:30] thing.

[00:30:31] I do that same thing.

[00:30:33] I got.

[00:30:34] Hey, that's cool.

[00:30:34] That's new.

[00:30:36] Yeah.

[00:30:37] Yep.

[00:30:37] Had on a swivel.

[00:30:38] I'm like, oh, I don't even

[00:30:40] know where I got that from.

[00:30:41] Yeah, I've been saying it

[00:30:42] to the kids forever because

[00:30:44] like, you know, when they're

[00:30:45] literal running through a

[00:30:47] parking lot or whatever,

[00:30:48] it's like, dude, you got to

[00:30:49] look.

[00:30:52] Find the difference exercises.

[00:30:54] This is literally like when

[00:30:56] we were younger and they had

[00:30:57] those highlight magazines.

[00:31:01] Do you remember those?

[00:31:02] They have like find the

[00:31:03] hidden things or find the

[00:31:05] differences between the two

[00:31:06] pictures.

[00:31:07] Yeah, I like those puzzles.

[00:31:08] Me too.

[00:31:09] Yeah, there's some cool

[00:31:11] like game apps that still do

[00:31:12] it.

[00:31:13] So you can definitely do

[00:31:14] brain training this way.

[00:31:17] Um, and then how many can

[00:31:18] you find?

[00:31:19] So this is again, how many

[00:31:20] blue cars, how many

[00:31:23] Beatles, how many stop

[00:31:24] signs did we pass?

[00:31:26] What?

[00:31:26] How many people were wearing

[00:31:27] this color?

[00:31:28] How many people were wearing

[00:31:29] that color?

[00:31:30] Right.

[00:31:30] So just got to pick one

[00:31:32] objective when you walk out

[00:31:33] the door and then you start

[00:31:35] counting those items.

[00:31:36] You'll be so surprised at

[00:31:37] what you just start noticing

[00:31:39] because you're looking for one

[00:31:40] thing.

[00:31:42] Whereas before it probably

[00:31:43] all just a blur like, oh,

[00:31:45] there was some people there.

[00:31:46] You know, I noticed a bit

[00:31:50] like I say, because it was

[00:31:51] really ticking me off when I

[00:31:52] just space out when I'm

[00:31:53] driving because I know that's

[00:31:55] not good.

[00:31:56] Right.

[00:31:56] So I start I count blue cars

[00:31:59] typically.

[00:32:00] Like you got into it's like,

[00:32:01] oh, what are you going to

[00:32:01] do when I get home or,

[00:32:02] oh, that was a good song,

[00:32:03] right?

[00:32:04] It didn't all of a sudden

[00:32:04] here.

[00:32:05] Yeah.

[00:32:06] Or I'm just singing along.

[00:32:07] Yeah.

[00:32:08] Mm hmm.

[00:32:09] And then I'm like, oh my

[00:32:10] gosh, I got home and I

[00:32:11] don't even remember driving

[00:32:12] through this part and that

[00:32:13] part in this part.

[00:32:13] But when I'm counting blue

[00:32:14] cars, I always remember

[00:32:17] like, oh yeah, I saw a

[00:32:18] blue car there.

[00:32:19] So really good stuff for

[00:32:22] situational awareness and

[00:32:23] taking it down to people

[00:32:24] then once you get out of

[00:32:26] the car, oh, he's

[00:32:28] wearing blue.

[00:32:29] They're wearing blue and

[00:32:30] you know what else is not

[00:32:31] happening?

[00:32:32] You're not looking at your

[00:32:32] cell phone.

[00:32:35] That's the worst.

[00:32:37] Yeah.

[00:32:38] That like anybody in the

[00:32:40] audience who's looking at

[00:32:41] your cell phone in a

[00:32:42] parking lot.

[00:32:42] Shame on you.

[00:32:44] Stop it.

[00:32:44] Please for your own sake

[00:32:46] and then teach your kids

[00:32:47] not to do that to you.

[00:32:48] Like we used to have

[00:32:48] answering machines.

[00:32:50] So even if it even if it

[00:32:52] rings, guess what?

[00:32:52] They can leave a message.

[00:32:53] You can call back.

[00:32:55] Mm hmm.

[00:32:56] But you're going to be safe.

[00:32:58] You know, not not a

[00:32:59] prey.

[00:33:00] They don't want you to

[00:33:01] look them in the eyes.

[00:33:02] They don't want you to

[00:33:03] know who they are.

[00:33:04] I don't want you to be

[00:33:05] able to do a description

[00:33:06] of who they were after

[00:33:08] the fact.

[00:33:09] So if your heads up and

[00:33:12] doing that now you're

[00:33:13] no longer the prey.

[00:33:17] This one was weird.

[00:33:18] I don't really go to the

[00:33:19] mall or like.

[00:33:22] I don't know if I'm in

[00:33:23] a store.

[00:33:23] I'm usually like after

[00:33:25] certain things.

[00:33:26] It's like people in those

[00:33:27] stores are usually after.

[00:33:29] But the who's really

[00:33:30] shopping game at the mall

[00:33:32] to like.

[00:33:35] Yeah, who's really

[00:33:36] shopping?

[00:33:37] Like who's actually

[00:33:38] there buying stuff

[00:33:38] or they just walking

[00:33:39] around.

[00:33:40] But I did like the

[00:33:41] one before that,

[00:33:42] like if you're in a

[00:33:43] park, you have one

[00:33:44] minute to try and

[00:33:48] what are they doing?

[00:33:49] You have one minute

[00:33:50] to get your best

[00:33:51] guess of what this

[00:33:52] person is doing at

[00:33:53] the park.

[00:33:54] Right.

[00:33:55] So like obviously it's

[00:33:56] obvious if they're

[00:33:57] playing football or

[00:33:58] something like that.

[00:34:00] But if they're just

[00:34:00] standing by the post,

[00:34:01] then that's a little

[00:34:02] bit different.

[00:34:04] Like what are they

[00:34:05] doing?

[00:34:06] So basic people

[00:34:08] watching with it

[00:34:09] with a with a fiction

[00:34:11] author, though you

[00:34:12] would make up anything.

[00:34:13] Oh, be like brand

[00:34:15] story going on.

[00:34:16] And I'm like the

[00:34:17] guys just leaning

[00:34:18] against a light post.

[00:34:20] They're the next

[00:34:21] savior of the universe.

[00:34:23] He's working on

[00:34:24] mentally developing

[00:34:25] his super powers.

[00:34:31] Yep, he knows

[00:34:33] the secret code

[00:34:34] to the safe

[00:34:35] that is located

[00:34:36] underneath the pole

[00:34:37] that he's leaning against.

[00:34:41] Now you're right.

[00:34:42] But come on,

[00:34:43] you got to be practical to you.

[00:34:47] And even if you are

[00:34:48] making up a story,

[00:34:49] you're there and noticing

[00:34:51] the people what they're doing.

[00:34:52] Right.

[00:34:53] So we aim to play with the kids,

[00:34:57] you know, see how many.

[00:34:59] I know they can pick

[00:35:00] out of the scene

[00:35:01] to make a story.

[00:35:03] Oh, yeah.

[00:35:05] So like the lady

[00:35:06] has an umbrella,

[00:35:07] the guy has whatever's

[00:35:08] wearing sneakers and shorts,

[00:35:10] I mean, whatever it,

[00:35:11] you know.

[00:35:12] Yeah, that's true.

[00:35:13] Now she's turned into Mary Poppins

[00:35:15] and he's actually

[00:35:16] the chimney guy, right?

[00:35:18] You know, list

[00:35:19] 20 items or 10 items

[00:35:21] and then make a story out of it.

[00:35:22] Uh huh.

[00:35:24] That'd be like a fun summer thing

[00:35:26] to keep the kids busy

[00:35:27] during the summer.

[00:35:29] Yeah.

[00:35:31] Garden girls probably over there

[00:35:32] taking notes.

[00:35:33] Oh, yeah, that's a great idea.

[00:35:37] Then we'll whippersnappers

[00:35:38] be situationally aware.

[00:35:41] That's it.

[00:35:43] Um, just this goes

[00:35:45] right along those lines.

[00:35:46] Describe the area

[00:35:48] you've just been through.

[00:35:52] So it's got to be unexpected

[00:35:53] and random because you can't

[00:35:55] just let them like start

[00:35:56] memorizing as they go in.

[00:35:57] But I mean, with little kids, cool

[00:36:00] with adults, though,

[00:36:01] like spring it at them

[00:36:02] and just be like, hey,

[00:36:03] we just walk through there.

[00:36:05] What's like four things

[00:36:06] you noticed in there, right?

[00:36:08] Yep.

[00:36:09] With kids, you can prime them.

[00:36:10] They can, you know,

[00:36:12] and then just pick out

[00:36:13] a few things that you'd

[00:36:13] expect them to see.

[00:36:16] Or you can have them describe

[00:36:17] like one thing that was in there

[00:36:19] in detail.

[00:36:20] And that way people start

[00:36:22] paying attention to,

[00:36:23] oh, when I'm coming

[00:36:23] through this area,

[00:36:24] I need to pay attention to,

[00:36:26] you know, what everything was.

[00:36:29] I don't do public

[00:36:32] commuting.

[00:36:33] I don't do commuting at all

[00:36:34] actually right now.

[00:36:36] So like public transportation?

[00:36:39] Yeah.

[00:36:39] Public transportation

[00:36:40] or even when you're driving

[00:36:42] like the same route every day,

[00:36:44] you start to notice certain cars

[00:36:46] that are always like

[00:36:47] on the road with you.

[00:36:49] I used to notice that

[00:36:50] when I was leaving

[00:36:51] Cool Headed for Auburn,

[00:36:53] you know, there's certain cars

[00:36:54] that are leaving at the same time as you.

[00:36:57] And so like pay attention

[00:36:58] to who those people are.

[00:37:01] When do they join you?

[00:37:02] When do they leave?

[00:37:03] This is just keep your brain sharp.

[00:37:04] It's not that you're

[00:37:05] like monitoring them.

[00:37:07] But then you can really

[00:37:08] start to see like, oh, wow,

[00:37:09] there's a heavy traffic today

[00:37:11] of like different drivers

[00:37:12] that aren't usually here

[00:37:14] or different passengers

[00:37:15] that aren't usually here.

[00:37:16] What is what's the difference today?

[00:37:18] You know?

[00:37:20] So that's kind of cool.

[00:37:21] If you're in like more of an urban

[00:37:23] urban area or your communing or whatever.

[00:37:27] Where can the gunmen hide?

[00:37:30] I love this one.

[00:37:32] I do it all the time

[00:37:34] when I'm out walking or whatever.

[00:37:36] I'm like, oh, sniper point, sniper point.

[00:37:38] Oh, I hit it in the third layer.

[00:37:39] You can be

[00:37:42] third layer has to do

[00:37:43] with like camouflage

[00:37:44] when you're in the woods.

[00:37:45] There's a first layer,

[00:37:46] the second layer, third layer.

[00:37:47] It's really difficult

[00:37:49] to see people in the third layer.

[00:37:52] So this is always a fun exercise.

[00:37:55] I'm always thinking of like

[00:37:57] where people could jump out

[00:37:58] to like ambush you and stuff like that.

[00:38:01] Probably that's that

[00:38:02] fictional writer thing going on.

[00:38:05] But good practice for everyone.

[00:38:09] And then you can add

[00:38:10] different limitations,

[00:38:11] like where could you hide

[00:38:13] to get cover

[00:38:15] and not just concealment?

[00:38:18] Get them started thinking about that.

[00:38:22] Um, and then the last one was

[00:38:26] was kind of creepy.

[00:38:29] What's different on your street?

[00:38:32] Take pictures of your neighborhood

[00:38:33] and store them.

[00:38:36] I'm thinking I'll be a little creepy

[00:38:38] just walking down the street

[00:38:39] like I'm taking my normal walk

[00:38:41] and I'm just taking pictures

[00:38:42] all my neighbors houses

[00:38:45] are sure easily enough done.

[00:38:48] Well, yeah,

[00:38:49] like you could

[00:38:50] on the phone or something.

[00:38:52] Right here.

[00:38:53] Yeah, that's true.

[00:38:55] I could just like be talking on the phone

[00:38:57] and like video it all the way down.

[00:39:00] But anyway, so he's like

[00:39:01] take pictures of the neighborhood

[00:39:03] and then study them carefully

[00:39:04] study the neighborhood carefully.

[00:39:06] Put the pictures away, store them away

[00:39:08] and then study the neighborhood carefully.

[00:39:10] I do this

[00:39:13] especially because I love to garden.

[00:39:15] And when we moved to Texas,

[00:39:16] we're in a different zone.

[00:39:19] Right.

[00:39:20] So in order for me to know

[00:39:22] how to garden down here,

[00:39:23] my biggest learning tool was watching

[00:39:25] the people who garden down here.

[00:39:27] Right.

[00:39:28] When are they tilling their soil?

[00:39:30] When are they planting?

[00:39:32] When are you know?

[00:39:33] And that's what really got me

[00:39:34] on track for my garden.

[00:39:36] And so I really did study them carefully.

[00:39:38] And I was looking at,

[00:39:39] oh, my gosh, that dirt's been disrupted.

[00:39:41] I know they've planted.

[00:39:42] So I've got to get mine planted.

[00:39:44] Right.

[00:39:45] This year, it was actually early

[00:39:47] and it's the best yet.

[00:39:49] So I was in earlier

[00:39:51] than the one local that I look at.

[00:39:54] One of the locals was already in one, wasn't it?

[00:39:56] So I decided it was a good time.

[00:39:57] Split the difference.

[00:39:58] Yeah. Yeah.

[00:40:01] So then once you have the pictures

[00:40:03] and you've been watching your neighborhood

[00:40:05] and stuff like that,

[00:40:06] try to list out the things

[00:40:08] that you think are different than before.

[00:40:10] Like my neighbor had some roof damage.

[00:40:12] You know, that was a change that I noticed.

[00:40:15] One of my neighbors,

[00:40:16] like their lawnmower wasn't working.

[00:40:18] So now their grass is super long.

[00:40:20] Right.

[00:40:21] And so I've been noticing just changes like that.

[00:40:23] But then you can take out the pictures

[00:40:25] and compare it to your list

[00:40:27] and see, like, what differences are actually there.

[00:40:31] So cool exercise.

[00:40:32] But I was like,

[00:40:33] how does kind of creeper to just like,

[00:40:37] yeah, you have to be careful.

[00:40:38] Right.

[00:40:38] I don't want my neighbors

[00:40:39] to think I'm like a wackadoodle

[00:40:41] because I'm taking pictures of their house.

[00:40:43] So.

[00:40:45] But.

[00:40:46] I got pretty nice neighbors.

[00:40:49] We want to keep it that way.

[00:40:51] Yep.

[00:40:54] One nice thing about Texas.

[00:40:57] But practicing situational awareness,

[00:41:01] guys, I can't over emphasize the importance of,

[00:41:06] you know, doing this daily

[00:41:08] whenever you're out in some place public,

[00:41:10] whenever, whenever

[00:41:13] you're out in public,

[00:41:14] you know, if you have a dog

[00:41:15] and it's barking, like, you can't just ignore the dog.

[00:41:18] You have to actually go look like,

[00:41:20] oh, what's the dog barking at?

[00:41:21] You know, if you got a little yapper

[00:41:23] that barks at everything still,

[00:41:25] you've got to go look because

[00:41:28] Miss Amber Poo might have actually spotted something,

[00:41:31] you know.

[00:41:33] No, she she really is a good alert dog.

[00:41:36] Right.

[00:41:37] Yeah.

[00:41:37] I mean, usually the yappers,

[00:41:39] that's what they're best at.

[00:41:40] Usually the yappers,

[00:41:41] that's what they're best at is really alerting you

[00:41:43] to what's going on.

[00:41:45] So my shadow, my black lab,

[00:41:50] she'll just be like sleeping right through it.

[00:41:52] She wouldn't care.

[00:41:55] But so, yeah, every day,

[00:41:58] every day situationally aware

[00:42:00] it's going to be the best for you,

[00:42:02] because if you aren't aware

[00:42:04] that somebody just pulled up in your driveway,

[00:42:05] now they're at the door

[00:42:07] before you were aware of it.

[00:42:09] Now they're through the door

[00:42:10] before you are aware of it.

[00:42:13] And we all slack,

[00:42:15] we all get in our own brains,

[00:42:16] we all get complacent.

[00:42:17] And it's just something

[00:42:18] we have to stay vigilant on.

[00:42:20] So there you go.

[00:42:21] Like a new list of some

[00:42:23] some cool things to do.

[00:42:24] I'm going to do them as well.

[00:42:26] We'll have to do like a report back

[00:42:28] on how things went,

[00:42:30] because I needed some new exercises myself.

[00:42:32] I've been counting blue cards for a long time.

[00:42:38] You doing you guys got anything

[00:42:41] like that that you guys do

[00:42:43] for to stay sharp in your travels?

[00:42:51] You know, no blue cars.

[00:42:53] Head on a swivel.

[00:42:55] Just all the cars that drive by.

[00:42:57] Yeah.

[00:42:58] That's just the biggest thing

[00:43:00] when we're out traveling,

[00:43:01] you know, I really got to watch

[00:43:02] the people because it's just sketchy.

[00:43:05] Situations can happen

[00:43:06] a lot faster than you would imagine.

[00:43:09] And with Christian,

[00:43:10] you know, still being little.

[00:43:12] We both pay attention

[00:43:14] when we're out, like at malls and.

[00:43:19] Yeah, it's we've literally

[00:43:21] like walked out of a Walmart

[00:43:23] because we've heard

[00:43:24] an argument starting to bubble over.

[00:43:27] Right.

[00:43:28] Now we're out.

[00:43:29] Yeah.

[00:43:30] We can come back later.

[00:43:31] Any fight you're not in

[00:43:32] is one you're going to survive.

[00:43:35] It's the one you're going to win.

[00:43:36] Yep, exactly.

[00:43:37] Because honestly, like once

[00:43:41] a situation begins,

[00:43:43] doesn't matter

[00:43:43] if you technically win or lose,

[00:43:46] you're still going to lose.

[00:43:47] There's still an element

[00:43:48] of you can be injured

[00:43:50] even though you won.

[00:43:52] So all right.

[00:43:56] Hopefully they gave you guys some new tools.

[00:43:58] I wanted them,

[00:43:59] so I thought it'd be fun

[00:44:00] to share them tonight.

[00:44:03] All right, let's go ahead

[00:44:04] and get into some change in Earth news.

[00:44:05] It's been wild on our planet, guys.

[00:44:07] Wild.

[00:44:08] So, oh, who the insurance

[00:44:11] market is going to be so interesting.

[00:44:13] But here we go.

[00:44:15] Change in Earth news.

[00:44:20] Dream.

[00:44:21] Survive.

[00:44:23] Thrive.

[00:44:25] This is changing

[00:44:27] Earth news.

[00:44:34] So I said that the insurance

[00:44:35] marketplace is going to be wild

[00:44:37] because as a cog in that engine,

[00:44:39] I really have no idea

[00:44:40] how our insurance,

[00:44:42] as we currently know it,

[00:44:43] is going to survive

[00:44:46] the amount of disasters

[00:44:47] that are just unfolding.

[00:44:50] It just honest.

[00:44:51] A lot of the conversations

[00:44:53] around my extended family

[00:44:54] have been our policy.

[00:44:57] Yeah, you know, yeah.

[00:44:59] Rates are going to have you.

[00:45:01] We're all.

[00:45:02] Everybody's like,

[00:45:03] who are you with?

[00:45:04] What do you know?

[00:45:05] We're trying to find a better rate.

[00:45:07] Yeah, it's not going to happen.

[00:45:09] They're going to go

[00:45:11] like, you know,

[00:45:12] two billion dollars

[00:45:13] worth of hail damage

[00:45:16] to Austin last year.

[00:45:18] I mean, there's all your auto.

[00:45:20] You know how many like

[00:45:22] used car parking lots

[00:45:23] and everything were just splattered with hail

[00:45:27] and then all of these storms

[00:45:29] are coming through.

[00:45:29] All these tornadoes

[00:45:31] are coming through.

[00:45:32] It is just I don't know how.

[00:45:35] I don't know how it survives.

[00:45:37] You can't.

[00:45:38] If you look at the numbers,

[00:45:40] somebody's been paying

[00:45:41] like 1500 bucks a year

[00:45:43] for 30 years.

[00:45:45] Was like forty five thousand dollars.

[00:45:47] Right?

[00:45:49] Their house goes down

[00:45:50] and we're rebuilding it,

[00:45:51] you know, three hundred

[00:45:52] thousand to five hundred

[00:45:53] thousand or upwards.

[00:45:56] Those numbers don't jive,

[00:45:58] like they just don't work for

[00:46:00] for the companies to keep

[00:46:02] expending that premium

[00:46:03] over and over and over

[00:46:04] and over and over again.

[00:46:06] So, yeah, like I say,

[00:46:08] as somebody who's a cog in the engine,

[00:46:10] hmm, I don't know.

[00:46:12] It's going to be real interesting,

[00:46:13] is all I could say.

[00:46:16] OK, so change in Earth news

[00:46:18] May 26, 2024.

[00:46:21] The solar are our son

[00:46:24] is quiet for a moment.

[00:46:25] It's like the calm

[00:46:26] before the storm on the sun.

[00:46:29] The sunspot that gave us

[00:46:32] all the problems

[00:46:33] in the beginning of May

[00:46:35] is coming back around

[00:46:36] and she's about to show

[00:46:38] her ugly little head again.

[00:46:40] And so it's been

[00:46:42] a little bit calmer right now.

[00:46:43] There's a lot of movement

[00:46:44] happening within the sunspot.

[00:46:46] And if it keeps that up,

[00:46:47] we're going to be looking

[00:46:48] at the same type of situation

[00:46:49] we were dealing

[00:46:49] with the beginning of May.

[00:46:51] So we have to keep our eyes on this

[00:46:54] because it could be

[00:46:55] a big problem really fast.

[00:46:57] And then other than that,

[00:46:59] there was some like

[00:47:00] big filaments on the south.

[00:47:02] An eruption would not be good

[00:47:04] for planet Earth

[00:47:06] if those went off.

[00:47:08] But all in all,

[00:47:09] a general quiet

[00:47:11] kind of going on,

[00:47:12] like I say, a calm

[00:47:14] a calm before the storm.

[00:47:15] And hopefully it doesn't happen

[00:47:17] while I'm out on a boat

[00:47:18] in the ocean.

[00:47:22] Oh, I'm going to need prayers, guys.

[00:47:26] Lots of prayers.

[00:47:30] I know it should be

[00:47:30] like awesome, fun trip, but I'm just

[00:47:33] I know I'm growing more gray

[00:47:34] right now as I speak.

[00:47:37] OK, May 20th,

[00:47:39] 369 earthquakes are 2.0 or bigger,

[00:47:42] biggest of which was a 5.1 in Peru.

[00:47:45] There was a 4.1 in San Diego.

[00:47:48] There was actually tons

[00:47:49] and tons and tons of earthquakes over there.

[00:47:52] And like I said last week,

[00:47:53] sometimes good to see the little ones

[00:47:55] because that can be pressure

[00:47:56] release without a big one.

[00:47:58] So we just don't know.

[00:48:01] Historic flooding in Brazil continues.

[00:48:05] Areas have been just absolutely decimated.

[00:48:09] The water is now getting up so high

[00:48:11] that even like some of the high ground

[00:48:13] is becoming just non.

[00:48:15] You just can't be there anymore.

[00:48:17] So really crazy situation going on there,

[00:48:21] and they're definitely not

[00:48:23] going to get those fields

[00:48:23] planted in time for a harvest this year.

[00:48:28] A freak storm left Poland blanket and inhale.

[00:48:33] Oh, and boots on the ground.

[00:48:38] Yeah, I got to say

[00:48:39] what was in our chat room here

[00:48:41] from our buddy over there

[00:48:43] in Portugal.

[00:48:47] Normally, Portugal, 35 to 40 degrees

[00:48:51] Celsius snowed again in two parts

[00:48:54] in the big mountains.

[00:48:55] So of course up in the mountains,

[00:48:56] but still this time of year crazy sauce.

[00:49:00] So I the Sierra

[00:49:03] Nevadas haven't been doing anything there.

[00:49:06] Kind of when we looked at it,

[00:49:07] I think was like same

[00:49:08] longitudinal of over there.

[00:49:11] So Arizona Tonto National Forest,

[00:49:16] 5000 acres burning.

[00:49:19] Kenya was bracing for more rain

[00:49:22] as cyclone Ayala hit Kansas.

[00:49:26] They had a huge dust storm,

[00:49:29] just huge hubbub.

[00:49:31] They're called hubbub.

[00:49:32] I know everybody who's immature like me.

[00:49:36] Yeah, Kansas.

[00:49:38] In central Kansas

[00:49:40] can now can now laugh.

[00:49:42] But yeah, huge dust storm residents there

[00:49:46] saying they never seen anything like it.

[00:49:47] Just went straight to black, black skies.

[00:49:53] May 21st, 387 earthquakes

[00:49:55] that were two point over bigger,

[00:49:56] biggest of which was a five point seven

[00:49:58] in Papua New Guinea.

[00:50:00] Oklahoma was hit by multiple tornadoes.

[00:50:04] Omaha, Nebraska was getting flooded.

[00:50:07] Eastern Colorado

[00:50:09] hit by golf ball size hail event.

[00:50:12] The Netherlands hit by extreme flooding event.

[00:50:15] Also other areas of Europe flooding.

[00:50:19] Also Russia, southern China,

[00:50:22] record rainfalls in a lot of those areas over there.

[00:50:26] So this is not just the United States going crazy.

[00:50:28] This is the whole world going crazy.

[00:50:32] Southern China is also experiencing record heat.

[00:50:35] So I feel like that's what we've got going on in Texas right now.

[00:50:39] It's May and it feels like it's dang near middle of August.

[00:50:43] It's just the worst because we just had so much rain

[00:50:47] and the storms when the hot runs into the cold,

[00:50:50] that's what's creating all this craziness.

[00:50:52] So Oklahoma was also hit by a dust storm.

[00:50:59] Now I know I lost you.

[00:51:01] No, no. OK.

[00:51:03] It did a beep beep beep beep beep.

[00:51:07] May 22nd, 348 earthquakes that were two point or bigger,

[00:51:11] biggest of which was a five point six in the Maluku Sea in Indonesia.

[00:51:17] Naples, Italy.

[00:51:18] So this is right near Campy Camp Flagry,

[00:51:22] the Campy Flagry, the volcano there, the super volcano.

[00:51:26] They were literally evacuating on May 22nd.

[00:51:30] They had a four point four biggest earthquake in 40 years.

[00:51:34] The inmates of the nearby prison were being evacuated.

[00:51:40] So Campy Flagry has not calmed down at all.

[00:51:43] It is still making a lot of noise.

[00:51:46] Iowa was hit by tornadoes,

[00:51:49] lots of tornadoes just ripping through the middle of our country.

[00:51:53] Arizona wildfires are up to 14000 acres.

[00:51:58] Central Illinois, I-55 closed due to a dust storm.

[00:52:03] So we have these dust storms on top of the other storms.

[00:52:06] It's going to be like this, guys.

[00:52:08] It's just the atmosphere becoming supercharged, super high, super low.

[00:52:12] So that's why we're going to have just more insane weather.

[00:52:16] And that's why I'm worried about like how the insurance industry

[00:52:19] is going to actually handle all this.

[00:52:21] May 23rd, there was 363 earthquakes that were two point or bigger,

[00:52:26] the biggest of which was a five point six in the southwest Indian Ridge.

[00:52:30] Oklahoma was hit by a series of tornadoes.

[00:52:34] I've been lucky enough where we're at.

[00:52:37] They've skirted to the east or to the west

[00:52:40] and pretty much missed our area completely.

[00:52:43] So it's kind of crazy to wake up some mornings

[00:52:46] and find out that just down the road, somebody else got screwed over that night.

[00:52:51] May 24th, there was 377 earthquakes that were two point or bigger.

[00:52:56] Biggest of which was a five point four in Peru.

[00:52:59] In New Jersey, there was another two point nine earthquake.

[00:53:03] Parts of Iowa and Illinois destroyed by tornadoes that night.

[00:53:08] Just relentless activity.

[00:53:10] Multiple people died in those events and the wind turbines got destroyed.

[00:53:15] I bet you that also happened up where it was hitting in northern Texas,

[00:53:20] because I know that area is all wind turbines up in there as well.

[00:53:25] Prayers out to everybody that's been affected by these tornadoes.

[00:53:29] We are talking about a lot of devastation.

[00:53:31] And really, that's what the changing our series is all about,

[00:53:35] is infrastructure being destroyed,

[00:53:39] but not so much like a mass casualty of people.

[00:53:44] And so how do you handle that when your infrastructure

[00:53:47] is being ripped out from underneath you

[00:53:50] and you still have all these people that relied on that infrastructure?

[00:53:54] So that's what's going to give you more climate refugees and things like that.

[00:53:58] May 25th, there's 383 earthquakes are two point or bigger,

[00:54:03] the biggest of which was a six point three in Venatio,

[00:54:06] northern Texas.

[00:54:08] That was this morning or yesterday.

[00:54:11] Five people died up there in the tornadoes I came through.

[00:54:15] I've heard five to 11.

[00:54:17] Many more people were injured.

[00:54:19] It really hit Collin, Denton and Cook counties.

[00:54:23] So big, big disaster in those areas.

[00:54:26] Again, just say your prayers for those people.

[00:54:30] If you weren't involved, thank the Lord first and then pray for the people that were.

[00:54:37] In the Philippines,

[00:54:40] Moaban Cuisine was hit by typhoon.

[00:54:45] It's A-G-H-O-N-A-K-N-A-N

[00:54:48] and caused a major flooding event over there.

[00:54:52] There was also a huge landslide that happened over there.

[00:54:58] So those people are definitely going to need our prayers.

[00:55:00] The island folks are just getting hit.

[00:55:03] Montana declared a disaster due to flooding.

[00:55:06] New Mexico wildfire they have started was up to 1500 acres.

[00:55:12] That is the Blue Two fire.

[00:55:14] And a lightning strike started a fire near the NASA

[00:55:20] Kennedy Space Center in Florida.

[00:55:22] So we had eyes on that one.

[00:55:24] May 26, there was 394 earthquakes that were 2.0 or bigger.

[00:55:29] I guess of which was a 6.3 and not two, another one.

[00:55:33] So not the same one that hit the day before.

[00:55:36] And when energy comes in there, it kind of like

[00:55:39] it's like the punch point for our planet and that feeds out around the ring of fire.

[00:55:44] So we always have to keep our eye on that because

[00:55:47] that can be bad things in the coming week for the ring of fire,

[00:55:52] especially two of them back to back like that.

[00:55:56] Rogers, Arkansas was hit by a tornado Ohio when I was doing my research.

[00:56:01] They were on a tornado watch right now for a potential tornado

[00:56:06] outbreak with the storm that's moving through there right now.

[00:56:10] Cyclone Ramal is making landfall in Bangladesh right now today.

[00:56:15] That was live action.

[00:56:17] And then the extreme heat in Texas is the big story.

[00:56:20] A lot of people are still out of power in Houston.

[00:56:22] Now they're getting this extreme heat.

[00:56:25] So not a good situation there.

[00:56:29] As far as erupting volcanoes, we have 31 volcanoes erupting.

[00:56:33] That's the same as last week.

[00:56:34] We have 25 showing minor activity that's up to from last week.

[00:56:39] And we have 26 showing unrest.

[00:56:42] That's down to from last week.

[00:56:45] So we have the same number of tornado or volcanoes.

[00:56:48] I've been talking too much about tornadoes day, right?

[00:56:51] Same number of volcanoes on the list,

[00:56:54] but two more moved up into minor unrest as opposed to just being

[00:56:58] in the unrest category for wildfires.

[00:57:02] We're at a preparedness level of two.

[00:57:04] So everybody got to start perking up about those wildfire risks.

[00:57:08] There are seven large active wildfires in the United States

[00:57:11] right now for a total of 32,671 acres on fire.

[00:57:15] Two of those fires are contained.

[00:57:17] Arizona's number one on the list with one huge fire.

[00:57:21] Fourteen thousand four hundred and two acres.

[00:57:24] No new fires.

[00:57:25] Two of the other big ones are contained at this time.

[00:57:29] Oregon's number two on the list with one large active fire.

[00:57:32] Six thousand three hundred and forty acres that is not contained at this time.

[00:57:36] Colorado is number three on the list with one large active fire.

[00:57:40] Five thousand six hundred and ninety nine acres

[00:57:43] that is not contained at this time.

[00:57:45] And Alaska is number four on the list.

[00:57:47] One large fire, three thousand nine hundred and fifty four acres.

[00:57:51] And that one is also not contained.

[00:57:53] A lot of Canada's burning up on that side.

[00:57:55] So I wasn't really surprised to see Alaska up on the list.

[00:58:01] So, yeah, I mean, I guess we need some.

[00:58:06] I was going to make like a Wizard of Oz joke, like, you know,

[00:58:09] with all the tornadoes going on, but I don't know if that's really appropriate

[00:58:12] today. It's it was a really rough night for a lot of people last night.

[00:58:17] So just send more prayers out to them.

[00:58:23] There's been like 15 to 20 tornadoes or something

[00:58:28] that's hit Pennsylvania this year.

[00:58:31] It's whack, right?

[00:58:34] As weird, weird weather everywhere.

[00:58:37] Right. Mm hmm.

[00:58:38] Yeah. And with that big sunspot turning back around, I don't know.

[00:58:41] They were comparing numbers to like this last big CME that we had

[00:58:49] compared to like big ones we've had in the past and where the Aurora

[00:58:53] traveled to as far as like way more intense flares than that one we had.

[00:59:00] And the Aurora didn't go that far.

[00:59:02] So, you know, the Earth's shielding is not doing well.

[00:59:06] Even though that's something that nobody in the mainstream media wants to talk about.

[00:59:10] And we just don't know what kind of effects that's going to have

[00:59:14] as this transition happens on our planet.

[00:59:17] I mean, we don't have records from 12,000 years ago besides what we can

[00:59:20] find in the dirt and the trees and whatnot.

[00:59:22] So, you know, they all want to use that tag word climate change,

[00:59:27] but they don't want to go too far beyond SUVs.

[00:59:30] Right. Exactly.

[00:59:33] There's another like huge piece of the world that's

[00:59:36] a huge piece of ice breaking off of the ice sheet.

[00:59:43] And so, of course, they're going to blame that on climate change.

[00:59:49] But that's actually like Mother Nature's natural way of cooling the planet.

[00:59:56] So that happening would actually like trigger in the next ice age

[01:00:00] because that would bring less salinity to the water and it shuts down

[01:00:05] the flow and the Arctic, the current, just like the movie Day After Tomorrow.

[01:00:10] Literally, just like that movie.

[01:00:12] It was like a movie to.

[01:00:15] That's the one New York froze over.

[01:00:18] Uh huh. Yeah. Yeah.

[01:00:21] Because, you know, we have mammoths that were froze while eating.

[01:00:26] I mean, that's a quick freeze.

[01:00:27] We've never really seen anything like that happen on our planet.

[01:00:31] So how does that happen? Right.

[01:00:34] It was like a big harvest, right?

[01:00:36] A big harvest, right?

[01:00:38] Freeze dry machine.

[01:00:40] Fair enough. Yeah. Yeah.

[01:00:43] Yeah. You can still eat it and everything.

[01:00:45] Uh huh. Yeah, people do.

[01:00:48] Yeah. It's crazy.

[01:00:51] All right, guys.

[01:00:53] Well, until next time, stay safe.

[01:00:56] I hate really. I hate to stay to say stay safe.

[01:01:01] I'd rather stay safe, stay free.

[01:01:03] Right. But right now, with the crazy weather, like

[01:01:07] make sure you got that situational awareness going in more ways than one.

[01:01:10] Those people that just got hit in Texas.

[01:01:13] One of the biggest things they were saying was we just never saw it coming.

[01:01:16] Like. It happened that fast.

[01:01:20] There's a lot of times that I'm like, yeah, yeah, warning, whatever, you know.

[01:01:25] So just don't be that person.

[01:01:29] All righty, guys, check out the video over on YouTube.

[01:01:32] Give it a like, give it a share.

[01:01:35] It is in a short.

[01:01:36] It is in a long video, whichever way you prefer.

[01:01:39] Go check that out.

[01:01:40] Subscribe to the channel.

[01:01:41] Always appreciate that.
