[00:00:12] A person who advocates and practices preparedness. One ready for any event that would disrupt their daily routine. That is a Prepper. Oh my goodness, hello, hello, hello everyone out there in internet radio land. It is Dave Jones, the NBC guy, coming to you on this rainy Sunday.
[00:00:39] Yes, and you know I listened to the last time I post and I don't know why it sounds like I'm half lit every time I post something. So I'm going to try and talk faster and think quicker but you know at 68, I am 68 years old. Holy cow.
[00:01:09] I look in the mirror these days and wonder who that old man looking back at me is. Ha ha ha. 68. I think one more year of teaching I'll be 69, it's time to quit. So that's where I'm at. And I am not on the ration and ruin mainly because Maria didn't want me to eat the packaged freeze-dried food.
[00:01:37] She's okay with me eating our freeze-dried food. But she said the other stuff, too much salt, too much preservatives, too much crap. But I have fasted before. I think the longest fast, and when I say fast I mean water fast. Nothing but water. I think I did 7 or 10 days.
[00:02:07] I'm pretty sure I did 7 and it may have been 10. And you really got to look at it. But boy, does it reset your metabolism. If you're looking to change something, get with your doctor. Find out if this is okay.
[00:02:28] But you know, back when they were doing colonospomies, they first started, you had to fast for like 48 hours anyways to clear out your colon. And I remember that first colonoscopy I did. Gosh, that must have been almost 20 years now. I got it right at 50. And they had to drink that stuff. Oh, you old people out there will know what I'm talking about.
[00:02:56] Boy, that stuff tasted like a plastic lawn chair. It was terrible. Gosh. And if it wasn't making you throw up, it was making you poop. Because boy, boy did it make you poop. You could not be 10 steps, 10 steps away from the toilet when you slugged that stuff down. And then they go and tell me after I did this,
[00:03:25] well you could have put some Kool-Aid in there to make it taste better. And it said specifically in the instructions, don't put any colored drink mix in there. I guess their cameras weren't as good back then. I don't know. It was crazy. I had it done at the VA. And it must be colonoscopy day. It was a Thursday and there were like six of us. We were like in a holding pattern for the ER.
[00:03:54] And I'm like, man, I hope they sterilize these instruments in between patients. And everybody laughed, you know, because it was, we're all in there for the same thing. It was funny. And then they wake, I wake up out of this, you know, this fog and grogginess. They put a memory inhibitor in there.
[00:04:19] And they said that's so that if you wake up on the operating table, you don't remember what happened. And I'm like, what? And they said, yeah, it's for something and all. And they said it's like the date rape drug. And I'm like, oh no. Yeah, it's a date rape drug. Anyway, the warden came down and caught me right there. I had to pause the recording.
[00:04:48] So, yeah, the ration of ruin and the back channel is going crazy. You know, if I was going to participate, it would not have been very hard for me. Because as the intrepid commander said, you can't walk 10 feet on the Jones homestead and find something that you can eat. And that is true.
[00:05:15] I mean, dandelion, broadleaf, just to mention stuff that's grown wild all over the place that you can eat. And Maria has planted in every, you know, square patch of soil something. I mean, she just, in Romania, it's just the way they do it.
[00:05:43] They plant it along their walkway, everywhere. Everywhere they have a patch of dirt, they plant something. And so, she knows what everything is. Because when James was here, we were walking along, he would say, is that this? And I'd say, yeah. And then he'd see something else. Is that such and such? And I'd say, yeah. And that's the way it is here.
[00:06:11] So, I would be able to eat that on the days I wasn't eating my freeze-dried food. Plus eggs, which is like the perfect protein. I could eat as many eggs as I wanted. Because, well, we just butchered. So, we're only getting about 10 eggs a day right now. But it would not be hard.
[00:06:38] And we have some rabbits that are coming up on butchering. So, I'd be able to eat some rabbits. It would not be difficult for me at all. But for the other guys, they're already talking about coming here and foraging. And Maria said, nothing that I planted. They could forage the mountain, but nothing that I planted. And that's true.
[00:07:01] So, also in the back channel, Chin has been talking to me about a loadout rig. You know, what do you carry with you? And I think I'm going to do an episode on what you should carry. And it looks like you should have two different, at least two different configurations.
[00:07:28] And I'll justify each one. So, there you go. From coming from a position where I've carried this stuff in field exercises, in the Army, and also in combat. So, I have a little bit of experience on what to carry, where it should be carried, and why. So, listen for that coming up.
[00:07:58] And gosh, I hope we have a great Stephen Minkin today. Reliance. I look forward to his every week. And, wow, Ben the Berger of Banksters was flying solo this week, but he did a great job. I'm reviewing, listening back to the shows. They were all great. They were all great this week.
[00:08:24] And don't miss the Changing Earth podcast, or audio drama, I mean, because Sarah Hathaway is remastering those early ones. And I remember back, gosh, how many years ago this started. It's, it's, I died in this last one. I die a lot. I think she picks characters just to kill me. I'm not sure if she likes hearing me die, or what it is.
[00:08:54] But, yeah, no spoilers, but it was one of the many people I played died in this episode. So, there you go. Hey, PBN family, take care, prep on, and listen to PBN. Share. Spread it around. Take care.
